Mr. Freddie R. Murphy, age 61 of Sylacauga, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. Mr. Murphy was a native of Sylacauga and was retired from Thompson Wienman Marble Quarry where he had worked as a stacker. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Murphy and his brother, O.B. Baxley. He is survived by his sisters: Juanita Owens of Texas; Louise Akin (James) of Alexander City, AL; Mable Dean of Opelika, AL; and Helen Isbell of Sylacauga; two brothers: Willis H. Murphy (Barbara) of Weogufka, AL; and Ray Frednanders of Sylacauga; and his mother, Ellen J. Murphy of Sylacauga. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Donnie Blackmon and Don Grice officiating. Active pallbearers will be Charles Murphy, Sammy Murphy, Willis C. Murphy, Howard Williams, Bobby McDaniel, Bradley Hyatt. Ricky Osbourn will serve as honorary pall bearer.
