Hazel Marie (Hammons) Hughes

On Tuesday September 15 of 2020, Hazel Marie Hammonds-Hughes, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 91. Hazel was cremated and buried next to her sisters at the Rocky Mountain Cemetery.

Hazel is the daughter of Ida and John Hammonds and one of nine siblings. Hazel was born in Talladega County on April 3 of 1929.

Hazel is survived by her son Dennis, two granddaughters Denise and Laura, and two great-grandsons Lincoln and Liam, and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel had a passion for helping others. She was a nurse both in the USAF as a 1st LT and later as a charge nurse in Glendale California. Hazel loved traveling around the country and seeing new places. She was also an avid collector of Barbie dolls. Hazel was known for her fearless independence, wit and spunk, and compassion and love for others.
