

Sylacauga, AL - Graveside service for James M. Deason, 89, will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Goodwater, AL with Rev. Bob Owens and Rev. Dorothy Scott officiating.
Mr. Deason passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at his residence and was preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Mary Deason and his sister, Mary Jo Bickerstaff. His passion and love was the Railroad; where he eventually worked for 41 years. It was his life and he also loved all the people he worked with. Mr. Deason wrote and published six books about the Railroad and was a charter member of The Central Georgia Railroad Society. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was a member of the VFW.
Mr. Deason is survived by wife, Mary K. Deason; son, Glenn Deason wife Jeannie of Sylacauga, AL; two step-sons, Earl Windham wife Toni of Sylacauga, AL and Rick Windham wife Jo of Jackson, SC; step-daughter, Cathy Martin husband Roger of Wilsonville, AL; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Earl Windham, Rick Windham, Roger Martin, Waylon Windham, Ross Windham, and Will Martin.
