
James William EdmondsonFayetteville, AL - Funeral service for James William Edmondson will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. John Limbaugh and Rev. Keith Dennis officiating. Mr. Edmondson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Fayetteville Cemetery.James W. Edmondson, born April 20, 1920 passed from this life to be with the Lord on October 2, 2013 at the age of 93. He resided at 1648 East Marble Valley Road, Sylacauga, AL 35151. Whether you called him Daddy, Pappaw James, Uncle James, Mr. James, cattleman, chief or friend, he was a very special person to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, before her death in 2003, Mavis Abrams Edmondson and four brothers, Edward, Russell, Joe and Bennett Edmondson, all of Fayetteville, AL.He is survived by his son, Tony Edmondson of Fayetteville, daughters, Gail Thompson of Fayetteville, Fay Blair (Tommy) of Sylacauga and Rebecca (Becky) Bowling of Tuscaloosa. He leaves five grandchildren, Jamie Butler of Auburn, Stacie Blankenship (Todd) of Sylacauga, Toni Curles (Marc) of Chelsea, Scarlet Thomas (Aaron) and Matthew Blair (Noemi) of Sylacauga and five great-grandchildren, Jesse Goss, Blair Thomas, Mattie Blankenship and Sara and Ruby Blair. He is also survived by his sister, Nell Conn Stansell of Muscle Shoals and a brother, Tom Edmondson (Margaret) and a sister-in-law, Johnnie Edmondson all of Fayetteville. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews and more friends than any one can imagine.He was the oldest member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church; he served in World War II, and was a livestock dealer by trade.
