Mark was a very special person and we shared a lot of special times when he would ride with me when I was with the Talladega count Sheriffe department he was as good a friend as I ever had. We both shared the love of helping others. 

He was always there call him he would've come

I was honored to be mayor of Talladega when Mark served as a police officer
Of all of his years of service, there was never a complaint filed against him. He was the best and a shining example to what every law enforcement officer should strive to be

Doyle and I enjoyed seeing your Mom and Dad come into church together on Sunday mornings. It was evident to us that he was very devoted to her. Thank God for Christian parents who led their children to God. Gail Joiner

We are so very sorry for your family's loss. Mark was truly kind and humble, and indeed a special man.

I worked with Mark between 1991 and 1993. He had a level  head and was always quick to smile. I hated to hear this sudden sad news. May God comfort the family.

Sometimes a little laugh will ease sorrow and grief. So, I hope my memory of Mark will help someone laugh or smile just a little.
Mark and I worked together for many years. One night, many years ago, Mark and I got into a little tussle with a prisoner in the "bull pen" in the city jail. The prisoner did not want to comply with us and he did not want to do what he was supposed to do. He needed to be put in time out.  We were on the floor of the jail. I was holding on to the prisoner. Mark was trying to put handcuffs on him. We were having a difficult time. Mark decided the guy needed a little persuasion. Mark wanted to give the guy a gentle tap with his flashlight and I agreed, that might be the encouragement the guy needed so he could be a model prisoner. Mark began to initiate his plan. He chose his target and followed through. Once his plan had begun he could not cancel it. The prisoner moved suddenly which caused me to move suddenly. Wouldn't you know, I was forced into the path of Mark's plan. The next thing I knew, I felt something warm running down the side of my neck and there was this puddle of red liquid on the floor below my head. Mark had hit me in the head. He told me to get up and get a paramedic. As I stumbled to the door. I heard Mark expressing his concern for me toward the guest of the jail. He was telling the guy;  you-made-me-hit-Al-an-Whee-les-in-the-head... Every syllable that was uttered from Mark's mouth was followed by a gentle tap of that infamous flashlight. For the rest of our career I made sure I was always an arm length away when Mark was using a flashlight. We have laughed about this for years.
All kidding aside, Mark was a great officer, a great supervisor, but, most of all a great friend.

I will miss you mark. I learned alot from you the twenty something years we worked together. Love you brother. Praying for all the family.

Renee I can't imagine Mark not here I'm so sorry my friend .ive shared some of our long ago memories when y'all lived at treetop trailer park and in Talladega , with Jenn .i loved y'all then and I'll love yall forever.  Maybe jim and Mark are fishing in the Crystal River. Know y'all r in my heart .prayers going up.

Mark was a genuinely good man. The world is sadder place without him. Renee and Scott I am so sorry. 

He was such a sweet soul and kind man. Ive known his family all my life. My condolences Renee and Scott. He will truly be missed and you guys are in my thoughts and prayers. Mr. Mark make sure you say hi to daddy tell him I love him. Rest in Peace Mr. Mark
