Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Vanzant (Trey Cobb) and Angela Brown; his grandchildren, Lucas Sims (Taylor), Colton Clifton (Allison), Zach Brown, and Ty Cobb; his great-granddaughter, Ellie Mae Clifton, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Linda Waites Brown, his parents, Arrie Lee "Pete" Brown and Mary Brown Blankenship, his brothers, Jack Brown, Charles Brown, and Billy Brown, and his sisters, Betty Cochran, Sue Chandler, Mary Brown, Martha Burton, Wanda Kelly, and Diane Matherson.
He was employed by Alabama Power at E. C. Gaston steam plant in Wilsonville for 41 years.
Jimmy attended and was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. He loved the Lord, his church family, and his pastor Brother John Limbaugh.
Jimmy was a family man who lived a simplistic life. He was a man with strong morals and values untouchable integrity, honesty, love and compassion. He was the best example of what it meant to be "a man". He was faithful and devoted to his family and friends, always full of love and laughter. He never failed to let you know he loved you. The love, concern, and compassion he had for his people was always so evident. Even in his last months he would say "Now if you need me, you call me". He cherished his wife of 57 years and loved her deeply; his daughters and grandchildren were always the light of his life. The legacy he left behind and the values he instilled will always remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Fayetteville Methodist Church, located at 5441 Old Fayetteville Rd., Sylacauga, Alabama, 35151, on January 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Lucas Sims, Colton Clifton, Zach Brown, Nathan Kelley, Randy Waldrop, Paul Matherson, and Isaac Osbourn.
The final resting place will be at Fayetteville Methodist Church, 5441 Old Fayetteville Rd., Sylacauga, Alabama.
