

Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Paul David Matthews, 70, will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Charles Moore, Bro. Brandon Baird, and Bro. Joe Camp officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.
Mr. Matthews went home to be with his Lord Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL and was surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Becky Matthews and his parents, Elbert and Lola Matthews. Mr. Matthews attended Weogufka 2nd Baptist Church and had retired from Kimberly-Clark Bowater with over 20 years of service. He was known for his love of planting trees and gardening. He also enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments. Mr. Matthews will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Parrett husband William and Denise Adams boyfriend Jeremy Skinner; four brothers, Dillard Matthews, Ken Matthews, Millard Matthews, and Sammy Matthews; six sisters, Ruth Sullivan, Rose Alloway, Betty White, Linda Jones, Doris Lockhart, and Shirley Blanton; three grandchildren, Brandon Adams, Andrew Parrett, and Rochelle Pate husband Austin; and two great-grandchildren, Dallas Burnett and Bailee Parrett.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Skinner, Andrew Parrett, Brandon Adams, Austin Pate, Ryan Gaither, Kyle Edwards, Richard Warner, and Mason Hallman.
