Harpersville, AL - On February 26th, our sweet mother, Reba Payne Horton, passed away in her home surrounded by her family. Reba was born April 22, 1935, to John Carlton and Bertha Payne of Jackson, Alabama. Reba was laid to rest in Harpersville Cemetery.
Reba dedicated her life to being a fantastic and loving wife and mother. She was the foundation of our family. Reba loved the Lord, starting and ending each day in prayer and in God’s word.
Reba’s hobbies were her children, grandchildren, and one special great grandchild. She also enjoyed her needlework. Mom was the epitome of grace, love, positivity, and kindness; the world needs more people like our beautiful mom.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Trice Harrison, and her second husband of fifty-three years, Ollan Horton. She is survived by her son, Tim Harrison (Sharon); daughters, Mandy Johns (Danny), and Melony Ford (Lanny). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Zack Johns (Caroline), Claire Smelser (John David), Garrett Ford (Hannah), Hallie Harrison, and Addison Harrison, and by her first great grandchild, Emmitt Payne Smelser.
Reba is also survived by sisters-in-law Jonell Harrison, JoAnn Wood (Jim), and brother-in-law Jimmy Horton (Shirley), as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Zack Johns, Garrett Ford, John David Smelser, Nathan Glassco, Ross Hardin, and Hank Newburn. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Wood, Jimmy Horton, and A.L. Courtney.
Our family would also like to thank special Reba’s special friends, Josephine Nevels and Dimples Sprayberry for loving our mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Harpersville in her memory.
A visitation for Reba will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Harpersville Cemetery, Harpersville, AL with Bro Larry Roberts officiating.
