Ronald will be remembered as an easygoing, kind, and deeply caring man who never met a stranger. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome in his home and in his life. His warm heart and gentle spirit were matched by his wonderful sense of humor—he loved to laugh and had a way of bringing smiles to those around him.
He was a devoted husband, father, and family man. Above all else, Ronald cherished his wife, Julie, whom he lovingly referred to as “My World.” Their bond was the center of his life. He also found great joy in spending time with his beloved dogs—LuLu, Milo, Ruby, TaterBug, Rosie, and granddog Sully—filling his days caring for and playing with them.
Ronald was retired from Advance Tank & Construction, where he dedicated many years of hard work.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Nelson; his children, Johnathan Nelson, Haley Norwood, and Tyler Norwood (Kaylee); his siblings, Ricky Nelson (Sandra), Donna Hill (Bruce), Caryn Nelson, Ken Pair (Gina), Glenn Pair (Pam), Diane Nelson, and Leann Nelson (Ed Smith); along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Odell Nelson and Leslie Dean Nelson.
Ronald’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring comfort to all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Curtis and Son North Chapel, 1315 Talladega Hwy., Sylacauga, AL 35150. A Celebration of Life with his loving family will be held at a later date.
