

Thomas "Kip" Kipybida, 72, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Sylacauga, Alabama. Born on April 12, 1952, in Bay Shore, New York, Kip dedicated over 25 years of his life to serving as a police officer in Sylacauga, where he was respected and cherished for his commitment to the community.
Kip was a man of many interests, including building model airplanes, reading history books, and tending to his pristine yard. His hobbies reflected his meticulous nature and love for detailed work, traits that also shone brightly in his professional life.
He is remembered as a beloved figure of unwavering friendship and kindness, a life richly lived in service to others, and a beacon of light and hope in his community. His warmth touched many lives, leaving a legacy of compassion and integrity.
Kip is survived by his children, Stephan (Laura), Donna (Scott), Mark (Mary), Carol (Keith), and John (Michelle) as well as his sisters Gina (Rick) and Marcie along with 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Helen, and his wife of 33 years Carol.
Services will be held Saturday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Sylacauga, AL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, honoring his lifelong dedication to law enforcement and community service.
