Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Gail Entrekin; his parents, Herschel and Alice Entrekin; his sister, Donna Sue Entrekin; and his nephew, Robert Entrekin.
A Sylacauga High School alumnus, Wayne was married to Donna from 1978 until her passing in 2003. He worked for over forty years at Farm Best, Flavorich, and Blue Bell Creameries in Sylacauga, retiring from the company. Wayne was a longtime member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. Known as "Entro" to all, he was an avid Auburn fan. His daughter notes his most humorous fan moment was a trip together to Tuscaloosa for "A" Day with Wayne, decked out in all of his Auburn gear. "He found the bluest and orange things he could put on!" Even though he tried to train them up from infancy to cheer "WAR EAGLE," the grandchildren would usually just give him a "ROLL TIDE."
Wayne enjoyed grilling - his measure, "If it is not burnt, it isn't done," was notable at many neighborhood block parties. As much as he loved football, he supported his children. He would dress up as Santa for them when they were young and would lend his signature HO HO HO to greeting the local children during the holiday season. Wayne would work the concession stand supporting the SHS band at football games as the Popcorn guy.
Wayne loved his family deeply. He cared for his friends, neighbors, and community. He will be greatly missed. All are invited to share memories of Wayne with others at a visitation to be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. Following the visitation will be a funeral service taking place in the Radney-Smith Chapel at 12:00 PM.
Wayne will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
