David Alston Walker

Sylvania – David Alston Walker, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Charlie Norwood Dept. of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Augusta, GA. He was born in Jenkins County, GA, was a member of Newington United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Sunday School Class. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served 4 years and a member of VFW Post 7116. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Frank Alston & Marlyn Mock Walker.

Survivors: Wife: Judy Croft Walker of Sylvania; Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Heather & Sean Scott of Vidalia, GA, Leah Haynes of Greenwood, SC and Jana & Josh Jordan of Birmingham, AL; Sons and Daughter-In-Law: Brian Walker of Newington, GA and Brad & Natalie Wessels of Charleston, SC; Sisters: Relinda Walker of Sylvania and Marsha Cunningham of Reidsville, GA; Grandchildren: Ashley Scott, Ashton Scott, Ava Scott, Noah Haynes, Emma Jordan and Hannah Wessels; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the Newington United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler officiating. Burial at Newington City Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Pallbearers: Owen Wood, Marion Griffin, Terry Kile, Chuck Coleman, Lee Smith and Charles Lee. Honorary Pallbearers: Men of Newington United Methodist Church and Members of the V.F.W.
