He was born May 8, 1929, in Screven County, Georgia to the late Virgil R., Sr. and Nettie Williams Scott. He was logger and farmer and a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church. He also was a U. S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Reba S. Powell, Orris Scott, Melba S. Terry Regis S. Leger, J. W. Scott and Dorothy S. Hill.
Survivors include: His Wife of 66 years, Betty Brant Scott of Sylvania, Daughters and Sons-in-Law, Joy S. and Randy Forehand of Hiltonia, Patty Scott of Statesboro, Myra S. and Jerry Havird of Aiken, S. C. and Sue Webster of Guyton, GA, A Son, Ricky Scott of Sylvania, A Sister, Maureen S. Williams of Hilton Head, S.C., Grandchildren, Lindsey and Fred Davis, Erin and Oliver Sanders, Bucky Whitehead, Stephanie Beasley, Devin and Candace Whitehead, Jena and Eric Tinsley, Jason and Jill Forehand, Justin and Brooke Forehand, Hosie Pierce, Jermaine and Felicia Pierce, Brandon and April Smith, Dilan Havird, Stan and Karen Riner, Chad Riner, Shane Riner and Shawn Riner , 36 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren and a number of Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, July 22, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott will be held Monday morning, July 23, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at the Buck Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Purnell and the Rev. Jason McClendon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Scott will lie in state at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Smith, Dilon Harvird, Stan Riner, Devin Whitehead, Chad Riner, and Fred Davis.
