Born on February 18, 1938, Anthony was raised in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Lawrence and Rose Famighetti. He attended Boys High School and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected the sense of duty, discipline, and quiet strength that would guide him throughout his life.
After marrying Rose Marie in 1960, Anthony worked tirelessly to build a life for his young family. While working as an architectural engineer at Union Carbide, he attended The City College of New York at night and delivered Chinese food to help support them, a reflection of the determination, pride, and work ethic that defined him. He later built a successful career in insurance, opening Putney Planning in 1972.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Rose Marie Famighetti; his children, Lori Ann Famighetti, Anthony Famighetti, and Robert Famighetti; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Doyle; and his grandchildren, Isabella Famighetti, Anthony Famighetti, Aidan Famighetti, and Julian Famighetti. He was predeceased by his parents and by his siblings, Lawrence Famighetti and Eleanor Clousis.
Anthony lived life fully and found joy in staying active. He loved golf, tennis, skiing, bowling, softball, and cycling, and brought energy and enthusiasm to each pursuit. He loved to travel, especially with Rose Marie by his side. Europe held a special place in his heart, particularly Italy, and among their favorite memories was a trip to Cabo and their stay at One&Only. He was also always fashionable and impeccably dressed, carrying himself with style and pride.
A native New Yorker, Anthony believed there was always room for a good slice of pizza. Even after a full meal, he could always make room for “a taste,” a phrase his family will always hear in his voice: “How about a taste, guy?”
Anthony had a deep love of music and theater. He sang with the St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church Choir, performed with a barbershop quartet, and was active in community theater, where some of his favorite roles included Fagin in Oliver!, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, and Billy Bigelow in Carousel. He especially loved singing “My Boy Bill,” a song from the show that remained his favorite.
A longtime resident of Syosset, New York, Anthony will be remembered for his devotion to family, strength of character, work ethic, love of music, and unmistakable style. Most of all, he will be remembered for the quiet, steady presence he brought to the lives of those around him, the kind of presence that made people feel cared for, supported, and loved. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and deep gratitude in the hearts of all who knew him.
