Alla Nestico

Alla Gallagher Nestico, 92, of Syracuse went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, with her family by her side. Alla was predeceased by her wonderful Husband Jim, 2007, her son “Baby Jimmy”, 1960, her sons-in-law, Richard Lappano, 2006 and Gerald Pitrelli, 2009 and her brother-in-law, Julie Nestico, 2008. Alla and Jim were jitterbug champions in the early 1940’s. They could have gone on the circuit dancing professionally, but instead chose to exhibit their talents for the service troops. Alla was the thread that held the family together, while Jimmy managed several restaurants at one time for his brother Julie Nestico. Alla was a quiet, faithful, steadfast woman, who loved her family more than life.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Sandra Pitrelli and Debra Lappano; her grandchildren, Debra Vaccaro, Joshua and Jeffrey Lappano; her great-granddaughters, Brittani Dias and Bianca Vaccaro; her sister Rita Vercillo and her nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday (today) from 4 to 7p.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunnyside Care Center for their compassion and support.
