Carmen A. Albanese, Sr., 80, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully Wednesday at his home with his family by his side. Born in Syracuse, NY he resided in Birmingham for the past four years and previously in North Carolina. Carmen retired from Longley Jones after many years. Prior to working at Longley Jones, he was Owner/Operator of Albanese & Carlucci Builders along with his brother-in-law. He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church and a member of the John Vendetti Post # 1. Mr. Albanese served his country proudly during the Korean War in the US Marines. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He is predeceased by his son, Carmen A. Albanese, Jr. in 1987.
Carmen is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ina Carter Albanese; daughter, Donna (Harold) Jones of Alabama; sisters, Angie Carlucci, Mem (Dominick) Rosati and Carmella (Peter) Vasanelli all of Syracuse; six grandchildren, Angela, Jeremy and Brian Bongo and Matt, Scott and Russ Jones; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted, Monday, 9:15 a.m. from FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
