Dora Tijerina — I met Dora for the first time in 1969 when my new husband presented his family to me   My memory of her is that of a Christian woman dedicated to her parents and family. Each time I saw her she was serving her family in one way or another. I remember her delicious Mexican meals—first time I ever tasted Mexican food and I loved it. . I can still see her rolling tortillas on the stove for her entire family. She was such a blessing!  She did not speak English, but that did not matter.  She had a kind spirit and was appreciated by all. Rest in peace sweet Dora, and we will meet again soon in our Father’s house.

Aunt Dora,

You were a woman of independence and strength who brought much love to your family.

I have held you in high esteem since staying with you in Taft around 1982 when visiting my Dad Tony Tijerina's hometown and family with my Mom Michelle Tijerina and sister Cathy Tijerina, as we visited you from Belgium. 

I recall how dutifully you took care of Grand-Dad, and how much you loved my Dad Tony. You faithfully kept in touch over the years at Christmas-time, remembering we are one family. It is a privilege to have been a part of your life.

You are remembered as inspiration, and courage.

I was privileged to meet my sister-in-law, Dora, on my first trip from Europe to the United States, when my new husband, Tony, introduced me to his wonderful family in 1969.  

I immediately loved her, and was drawn to her kindness for all those around her, particularly for her dear parents to whom she was devoted.  

We could not communicate verbally--she spoke Spanish and I did not-- but she always communicated to me with love, a language in no need of words.   

The pictures of long ago brought warmth to my heart, and tears to my eyes, as I remembered a wonderful and caring person called Dora Tijerina.  

Our world was made richer by her life among us, and I am looking forward to the day when I will see her again in my Father's house.  And there, we will fully understand one another without words, once again.

"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."  Gospel of John 14:2-3.

I have fond memories of Dora. Grandma Patsy,and us visiting with her,and her parents in their house in Taft. Sweet Sweet,lady, always had a giving heart. One of the photos I took of Rolly,(Roland Tenorio Sr.),Roland Jr. and you all's father, is a photo my son Roland treasures of his Great Grandpa. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, and may you all find comfort in knowing that your loved one is at peace now. Dora is safe in the hands of God.
