

Gilberto G. Ortiz, Sr. of Taft, Texas, passed away on August 4, 2010, at the age of 72. Gilberto was born on September 1, 1937, to Dionicio and Julia Ortiz, Sr. in Taft. Mr. Ortiz spent his adult life farming and retired after fifty years of service. He enjoyed spending lots of time with his precious children and grandchildren. He also loved to go dancing and fishing.
Gilberto was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Erminia and Erma Ortiz; two brothers, Teodoro and Arcardio Ortiz; one sister, San Juanita Garcia; and his son-in-law, Armando Arias.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Antonia Ortiz; two sons, Gilbert (Victoria) Ortiz and Raymond (Cindy) Ortiz all of Taft; four daughters: Julia Arias of Robstown, Texas, Maria Luz (Alejandro) Lemos of Three Rivers, Texas, Norma (Arturo) Naranjo and Yolanda (Julio) Castillo both of Taft; three brothers: Jesus (Concepcion) Ortiz, Dionicio (Lily) Ortiz, Jr. both of Taft, and Francisco (Janie) Ortiz of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters: Josepha (Nicho) Adame of Houston, Texas, and Ramona Martinez of Taft. Mr. Ortiz is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, August 6, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 that same evening at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August, 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft. Burial will follow at Taft Memorial Park.
