JOVITA MARTINEZ ENCINIA, 92 of Taft, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. She was born in McAllen, TX on February 15, 1925 to Francisco and Eloisa Martinez. Jovita was a homemaker and a devout Catholic. She was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft and had a passion for gardening and cooking. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and with her unending faith. Jovita is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dario Encinia Sr., two daughter-in-laws, Gloria R. Encinia and Agapita Encinia, two brothers, five sisters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, eight sons: Frank (Lucy) Encinia Sr., Santos Encinia, Jose (Peggy) Encinia Jr., Cruz Encinia, Max (Linda) Encinia, all of Taft Texas, George Encinia, Juan Encinia, David (Lana) Encinia all of Corpus Christi, TX. Three Daughters: Maria (Manuel) Ozuna , Evangelina (Alfredo) Riojas, both of Taft, Texas; Elevoria (Salvador) Pinon of Bloomington, Texas. Also, two sisters: Tomasa Sturgeon and Josefina Hinojosa both of Taft, Texas. Two sister-in-laws: Sofia Jervis of Victoria, Texas and Lencha Martinez of Taft, Texas. Jovita raised three grandchildren as her own: Patricia Encinia, Dario (Nellie) Encinia, Jr. and Edward Encinia. She has forty-two grandchildren, seventy-seven great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers include: Oran Riojas, Joe Riojas, Ismael Encinia, Jaime Pinon, Johnny Ozuna, Dario G. Encinia, Carl Caraway. Honorary Pallbearers include: Dario Encinia Jr., Frank Encinia Jr., Edward Encinia, Salvador Pinon Jr., Devin Pinon, Sammy Encinia and Efrain Ozuna. Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5 - 9 p.m. with Holy Rosary Recited at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Taft Memorial Park Cemetery.
