Anna Carol Williams was born on March 20th,1934 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Willard Francis and Irene (Franklin) Hammond. She attended school in Phoenix, AZ, graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic High School, then furthered her studies at Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ and Connors State College, Warner, OK, where she further developed her professional skills. She married and started her family, four sons and one daughter, Anna Spargur-Scrementi, Walter “Pete” Spargur, David Spargur, Joe Spargur, and Paul Spargur. Life wasn’t always easy for Anna but this never stopped her from taking life on by the horns! She has worked as a bartender, a waitress, a truck driver and finally as a book keeper, for both RWD 13 and St. John’s Catholic Church in Cookson. She met and married the love of her life, William Patrick Williams, or Pat and they were united in marriage on May 2, 1998 and again in the St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Chino Valley, AZ. She loved living in Cookson. There was nothing she enjoyed more than a day on Lake Tenkiller with Pat on the pontoon, doing a little fishing. She was active in the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She loved reading detective novels, made a great grape salad, and couldn’t wait to entertain family and friends for the weekend or on holidays. She was probably going around the house listening to country western tunes, anticipating a visit from her family and friends who affectionately called her “Granny Annie”, and she went out of her way to show her love for them. She liked to hunt squirrels and elk, and was one of OSU’s biggest supporters in her bright orange gear. She also watched the Chicago Bears whenever they played. Service was a second nature to Anna and she served on TACO, RWD13, and St. John’s Catholic Church. She was happy and outgoing, reserved at first then your friend for life. She was gracious and kind, always willing to help where she could. Anna was so very proud of her Choctaw heritage. She loved her family and friends fiercely, always making time for them. A devout catholic by faith, the Lord called this loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend home from her labors on December 28, 2022. She was 88 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, two sons, Pete Spargur and Joey Spargur, one granddaughter, Michelle Vance, and one great grandson, Tyler Allhouse, as well as uncles, aunts and cousins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of the home, Pat Williams of Cookson, OK, and her children, Anna Scrementi of Illinois, David Spargur and wife Kay of Utah, Paul Spargur of Florida, and lives on in her 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, as well as her many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
