Benjamin Wacoche was born on August 21, 1945 to Johnson and Katie Wacoche in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He entered into eternal rest on June 27, 2023 at the age of 77. He grew up in the Tahlequah area near the Illinois River with five brothers and five sisters. He graduated from Sequoyah High School and served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967. He was an ironworker for many years.
He loved being outdoors, watching sports, going to flea markets, and driving around. Those who knew him knew him for his joking nature and his ability to make everyone laugh. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and embarrassing them with his jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Watie Wacoche and Isaac Wacoche, two sisters Susannah “Lou” Wacoche-Martin and Nancy Howze, a grandson Trinity Little-Elk, and a great grandson Monroe Saige.
He is survived by his wife, Clarissa Wacoche; children: Katie Wacoche and companion Joseph Morton, Angela Wacoche and spouse Darrell Holcomb, Shannon Shade and spouse Wesley Shade; bonus children: April Wacoche and Rachel Wacoche; Grandchildren: Courtney Wacoche, Chinequa Wacoche, Aaron Wacoche, Khyree Gerhart, Nicole Wacoche, Jaden Shade, Ben Wacoche, Nakiya Holcomb, Wes Shade, Braven Mounce, Little Sun Fourkiller, Shaydee Fourkiller, Gracie Garner and Ray Garner Jr; Great grandchildren: Phoenix Hopkins, William Wacoche, Rowan Wacoche, Zariah Maxwell, and Mekko Wacoche, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Graveside services for Ben will be held 10:00am on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Towie Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK with Bro. DeWayne Hammer officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are, Wesley Shade, Darrell Holcomb, Aaron Wacoche, Jaden Shade, Bob Gerhart, Little Sun Fourkiller, Possum Garner, and Ben Wacoche. Honorary pallbearers will be Braven Mounce, and Little Wes Shade.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00pm at Reed Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK.
