Betty Ann Soap-Andrew was born on June 20th, 1949, the daughter of Annie Mae Soap, in Tahlequah, OK. She grew up in the household with her sisters, Polly Ann and Norma Sue and three brothers, Thomas, Mark and James. She graduated from Hulbert High School and attended school at the Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, KS, obtaining her nursing degree. While in college, she met and married Andrew N. Andrew, in February of 1972 in Hulbert, OK. This marriage was blessed with one daughter and one son, Margaret and Harry. They raised their family in Bethel, AK, where Betty worked for many years at the Bethel Hospital and the Alaska Native Medical Center, delivering many babies and working countless hours in ER. Betty loved all the patients entrusted to her care, especially the children! There was always a piece of candy in her pocket earmarked for the next child she cared for. When at home, she loved working her plants, playing on her computer, and crocheting gifts for her family and friends. She loved any chance she had to indulge her children and grandchildren, she was so very proud of their accomplishments. Betty returned to Tahlequah, OK five years ago and enjoyed time with her family. She still managed to keep candy in her pocket for the little ones to enjoy. She was caring and giving, even to the point of going without so someone else could enjoy. Her beloved Andrew passed from this life in 2015. She continued to spend time with her many family and friends, and looking forward to the next visit from her grandchildren, Alisha and Chelsea. Betty passed from this life on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 in Muskogee, OK. She was 67 years old. She has left a void that can never be filled.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Sah-Ne Soap and Rachel Glass-Soap, her husband, Andrew in 2015, and her mother, Annie Mae Soap in 1995.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Margaret Warren of Anchorage, AK, and son Harry Andrew also of Anchorage, AK. She leaves three brothers and two sisters, Polly Ann Makarka and husband Jerry of Tahlequah, OK, Thomas Leo Soap and companion Jana Sopak of Tahlequah, Norma Sue and husband Lance Courtwright, Mark Carey, and James Leonard Soap and companion Juanita Fisher also of Tahlequah, OK.
