Born on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1955, Billy Joe Killian Jr. entered the world with the quiet wisdom of an old soul and carried that spirit throughout a life well lived. He was the son of Billy Joe Sr. and Dorothy (Dowell) Killian, growing up with his three siblings, Ricky Stevie and Barbara.
Billy married the love of his life, Alana Sheree. Their union was blessed with one son, Jake, and enjoyed 54 wonderful years together, before her passing in 2019. He cherished the memories of his late wife, Alana, and was grateful to find new joy and companionship with Marcella Bethel for the last six years. Together, they created a warm home filled with laughter and love, gaining a step-son, Payden.
A true country boy at heart, Billy or ”Bubsey” to family and friends, loved the simple pleasures of life. Fishing and hunting were more than hobbies for him; they were ways to slow lift down and share stories with friends. He had a soft spot for old Westerns, especially those starring the legendary John Wayne. His love for classic country music was evident in the way he frequented playing his favorite song, "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, capturing the depth of his spirit, along with some occasional classic rock when the mood was right.
Bubsey had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever he went. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Family meant the world to him. As a proud "papa bear," he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, often traveling to California just to see their smiling faces and spend time with all the family.
On December 14, 2025, at the age of 69, he completed his life’s journey, leaving behind cherished memories. His generous spirit and love he had for his family will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Alana Sheree Killian, parents, Billy Joe Sr. and Dorothy Killian, one brother, Ricky Killian and one sister, Barbara Hemminger.
Those left to cherish his memory include his companion, Marcella Bethel, of the home, one son, Billy Jacob “Jake” Killian and wife Virginia Marie “Jeenie” of Bakersfield, CA, one step-son, Payden Bethel of Tahlequah, OK as well as one brother, Stevie Killian of Bakersfield, CA. His legacy lives on through his three cherished grandchildren, Jacob McCoy, Winter Sage and Summer Jade Killian and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Maverick and Ellie, along with his good friends, Jimmy and Charlotte Howard and many other friends and loved ones.
