

Candy Jean Barbaree was born June 15, 1990 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Larry Gleitz and Bernice (Cornsilk) Barbaree. She attended school at Briggs and had four siblings, Larry, Channing, Peggy and Melanie. Candy was not afraid of getting her hands dirty, working various jobs and gaining many trade skills throughout the years. Work was her favorite hobby, from tending to the lawn to fixing the driveway. She was faithful to caring for the pet donkeys and could work over any kind of equipment. She was a quiet soul by nature and possessed a huge heart for others. She never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Above all, her family meant the world to her and loved spending time with them any chance she had. Gone far to soon, Candy passed from this life on May 3, 2025 at the age of 34 years old. Her kindness and generosity will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She has gone on to join her grandmother, Dorothy Barbaree and one sister, Melanie Burnett.
Those left to cherish her memory includes her parents, Larry Gleitz and Bernice Barbaree of the home along with her precious daughter, Alex Abbott. She also leaves one brother, Larry Barbaree and wife Miranda of Tahlequah, OK and two sisters, Channing Summers and husband Nicholas of Tahlequah, OK and Peggy Barbaree and companion Jon of Proctor, OK as well as seven nieces, Summer, Autumn, Ellie, Lela, Jordan, Kyleigh and Hailey, three nephews, Gunner, Cutter and Brandon and many friends and loved ones.
Funeral services for Candy will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10:00am at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Golia Begley officiating. A time of visitation will be available prior to services beginning at 9:00am. She will be laid to rest at Shirley Springs Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers include Will Craig, Nick Summers, Kris Guinn, Gunner Summers and Mike Burgess.
