Cathy Ann Collier Ramsell was born on October 12, 1970, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the first daughter of Whorton and Sharon (Rose) Collier. She departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday, October 22, 2021, from her home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 51, after an extended hospitalization and eventual diagnosis of brain cancer. Cathy was brought up in the Christian faith, along with her older brother Billy and her younger sister Amy, and she loved and trusted Jesus from her youth. She was an honor student, a student journalist, and a student athlete on the Westmoore High School tennis team. Her quote in her high school senior yearbook was "Our God Is An Awesome God," the title of a Rich Mullins song, and like the words of the Michael W. Smith song "Friends," her friends are friends forever.
Cathy graduated from Oklahoma State University, where she earned her degree of Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences, Family Relations and Child Development on May 7, 1994. She then became an associate campus minister with Christ on Campus at the University of Oklahoma, where she met and began dating her future husband, Todd Ramsell.
Cathy and Todd married on May 29, 1998, and made their first home together at Cookson Hills Christian Ministries in Kansas, Oklahoma. They were blessed with one very special child, their daughter Eden Faith, born on May 7, 2004. Cathy was a classroom teacher for eleven years, and then a homeschool mom for another twelve years. It was her driving passion and joy in life to care for her home and family. She was truly satisfied by life's simple pleasures: reading a good book, catching up with friends, feeding the songbirds, and watching tennis greats Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras go head to head in yet another grand slam final.
Cathy will always be remembered and treasured by all who knew her, because she was good, and she looked for the good in others. She was quick to show grace to others as well as to herself. She was love and life and grace and peace and simplicity and complexity and artist and poet and daughter and sister and mother and wife. We loved her. We love her.
Cathy is survived by her husband Todd Ramsell and daughter Eden Faith (Tahlequah, OK); her father Whorton Collier (Oklahoma City, OK); her brother Billy Collier and his wife Michelle (Newcastle, OK); her sister Amy (Oklahoma City, OK); as well as nine nieces and nephews, and four great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear mother, Sharon Ann (Rose) Collier.
The funeral service will be held at Flint Ridge Chapel, south of Kansas, Oklahoma, at 1 PM on Thursday, October 28, with viewing preceding at noon. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook at Flint Ridge Chapel. The graveside service will follow at 2 PM at the Cookson Hills Cemetery.
