Born on September 7, 1959 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the son of Lowell “Frank” Clark and Joyce Ann (Clinton) Henderson. Clay grew up and attended school in Tahlequah. He was the oldest of five siblings. He took enjoyment of being the eldest and the boss of his siblings. He and his siblings often got into mischief while growing up on the farm. As a child, Clay aspired to be a cowboy. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, riding horses and attending the rodeo. He would later spend the majority of his teenage years breaking horses and playing the guitar.
Clay began his journey into adult hood by enlisting in the US Army National Guard. He would later pursue a career in construction and electrical and was not afraid to take on tough task. His skillset allowed him to travel and work all over the country; which he enjoyed.
Clay would go on to meet his beloved wife, Carla. Clay and Carla formed a family with Clay’s son Dwaine and Carla’s son Cody. Together, Clay and Carla brought into this world three daughters; Vanessa, Ashton and Vera, all of whom share the sense of humor, and compassion for others that was passed down from their parents. In the last year of his life he was excited to have connected with his daughter Crystal.
Clay was full of energy. He enjoyed taking his children on fishing and camping trips. He would often start Saturday mornings off with the sound of classic rock and country music. He enjoyed playing in a band alongside his close friends. He wrote and recorded many of his own songs which he enjoyed playing in front of others.
The Lord embraced Clay in his arms on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones in Cookson, Oklahoma. He was 62 years old, and will forever be missed by the love he shared, his smile, and his care for others. He was welcomed to heaven’s gate by his father, Lowell “Frank” Clark.
