Commalette Mae Thompson Hensley-Walls was born on April 11th, 1938 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of John P. and Artie Mae (Bailey) Thompson. Commalette grew up in a large family of five brothers and three sisters. She worked as a home health aide assisting others for her working career. In 1955, she married Richard Hensley. Together they raised three children, Daniel, Donna, and Ozeal. After her first husband passed away, she married W.D. Walls. Commalette was a gifted seamstress and made clothes and quilts. She was a talented cook, and loved to feed her family well on her homemade beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, and her desserts of coconut crème pie and peanut butter balls. She was as tough as nails, but possessed a wonderful sense of humor, that made everyone around happy just to be in her presence. She was the perfect neighbor, always checking in on them to see they were all ok and catching up on the latest news in the neighborhood. She liked to be out doors when it was nice, working in her flower beds and raising beautiful flowers. Music was always playing in her house, she loved Patsy Cline and all the old time gospel favorites. She loved spending time with her family sharing a holiday meal or just spending time with her adored grandchildren. They were the most wonderful people in the world to Commaletta. A Christian by faith, Commaletta attended the Eldon Baptist Church. Her health began to fade, and Commaletta moved to Muskogee to have help with her care. The Lord called this wonderful mother and grandmother home from her labors on January 7th, 2016 in Muskogee, OK with her family by her side. She was 77 years old. She will be greatly missed for all the love and care she showed her family and friends daily.
Commaletta is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Richard Hensley, her adored daughters, Donna Hensley and Ozeal McCandless, her brothers, Jessie Thompson and Everett Thompson and her second husband, W.D. Walls.
