Funeral services for Dwight C. Howard will be held on Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Robert Howard and Mr. Don Linn officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10th, 2013 from noon until 8:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will take place at Holland Cemetery near Tahlequah, OK. Pallbearers for Dwight include Bryan Sanders, Richard “Brother” Howard, Josh “Weineydog” Linn, Calvin Deerinwater, Richard “Bubba” Bell, David Esterly, and James Williams.
Dwight C. Howard was born on September 13th, 1943 in Sanger, TX, the son of James Earl and Lillian Mae (Spraybary) Howard. He worked as an Electrical Lineman for the Denton/Sanger Texas area. He was dedicated, hard working, and industrious, giving 40 years to his profession. When he had down time, Dwight was a member of the Tahlequah BPOE. He raised fighting chickens and enjoyed sports. His family was very important to Dwight. When he was growing up, he felt the need to be responsible for his younger siblings. He kept a vigilant eye on his two sisters and three brothers, as well as helping out his parents in any way he could. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. He enjoyed being retired in the Tahlequah area and could be found enjoying the day in the company of his partner for life, Rene’e Sellers. Dwights health began to fail and he passed from this life on Friday, December 6th, 2013 in Tulsa, OK with his loved ones by his side. Dwight was 70 years old. He will be greatly missed for the moral support and all the love he gave those that knew him best.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish Dwight’s memory include his companion, Rene’e Sellers of Hulbert, OK, his three daughters, Kim Linn-Esterly and husband Dave of Weatherford, TX, Kelle Jean Darr of Krum, TX, and Tonya Kay Williams and husband James of Edmond, OK. He leaves three brothers and two sisters, Richard and wife Molly Howard of Jacksonville, TX, Robert and wife Wilma Howard of Boyd, TX, Randy and wife Saundra Howard of Dayton, TX and Janice Crow and partner Becky of Highlands, TX and Sharon Fox of Lubbock, TX. Dwight’s legacy and love of life live on in his ten grandchildren, Rachel Bell, Richard Bell, Joshua Linn, lacey Darr, Jacob Childress, Kohle Childress, Kolbe Childress, Mahalie Williams, Preston Williams, and Aiden Willimas. He also leaves six great grandchildren, Gavyn Ryals, Akaida Garner, Zayne Garner, Stormy Leach, Channing Darr, and Haylee Esterer. Dwight leaves four stepchildren, Michael Sellers of Tahlequah, OK, Mitchell Sellers of Welling, OK, Whitney Sellers of Briggs, OK, and Stephanie Sellers of Tulsa, OK, and seven step grandchildren, Alexis, James, Alezra, Charles “Cowboy” , Grayson, Mason, and Kennedy, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
