

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Henry Franklin Hendricks will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Dylan Ward of Woodall United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hendricks Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
Pallbearers for Henry will be Joe Ballard, Terry Hendricks, Michael Hendricks, Dwayne Hendricks, Donny McClure, and Darryl McClure. Honorary pallbearers for Henry include Cletes Fears, Jimmy Perry, Bob Copeland, Tincy Cooper, Roy Sparks.
Henry Franklin Hendricks was born on December 9th, 1920 in Woodall, OK the son of Richard and Nellie (Matthews) Hendricks. He attended school in Woodall. During WWII, Henry enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1940 until 1942. He returned to the Woodall area and on October 14th, 1943, he married the love of his life, Jewell Wayne Cowles. This union was blessed with one daughter, Evelyn and 54 years of marriage, ending with Jewell’s passing in 1999. Henry worked for the Muskogee Iron Works as a fitter and welder. When he wasn’t working with metal, he enjoyed a second job shodding horses. When he had some spare time, Henry loved to go dancing and especially enjoyed round dancing. Henry was very creative and was constantly working on a project. Once he created a loveseat and a front gate, solely composed of horseshoes. He was a true equestrian, and trained horses that performed on command and loved unconditionally. Henry loved and devoted himself to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was charming, funny, and possessed a great sense of humor. He made friends easily and loved to sit and talk awhile. A Christian by faith, Henry was a member of the Woodall United Methodist Church. The Lord called Henry home on August 29th, 2012 in Ft. Gibson, OK. with his family by his side. Henry was 91 years old. He is already missed by his family and his many friends.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Jewell, two brothers, Gunner and Charley Hendricks, and two sisters, Mary Hendricks and Clara Henderson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved daughter, Evelyn and her husband Sandy Fears of Ft. Gibson, one brother, Earl Hendricks and wife Cora Lee of Shaddock, OK, and one sister, Joyce Raley of Okmulgee, OK. His legacy lives on in his three grandchildren, Jimmy Whitewater of Stilwell, OK, Debbie Green and husband Gary of Stilwell, OK, and Bobby “Cub” Whitewater and wife Lisa of Peggs, OK. His great grandchildren include Jody Vick and husband Brandon of Tahlequah, OK, Justin Green and his wife Chelsea of Ponca City, OK, and Jewlee Whitewater of Stilwell, OK. His great-great grandchildren include Meckayla, Logan, and Holly, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
