Janet Leola Rose began this journey called life on September 11th, 1953 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Virgil Lee and Mildred Lavina (Boswell) Westmoreland. She grew up with two brothers and one sister, Tucson, Travis, and Deborah. Upon completing her high school education, she would meet and marry her best friend, Troy Lee Rose, on September 2nd, 1969. Together they would raise a family of one son and two daughters, Justin Lee Rose who died in infancy, Jennifer Louise Rose and Amber Lee Jenee Rose. She dedicated her entire life to being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Her family was first and foremost in her daily life. She loved to cook, and always made her family breakfast, hers was burnt toast and bacon. She made a really good pineapple upside down cake for special occasions. She loved people and loved to share stories and the latest news, and couldn’t wait for the next holiday so she could gather all her loved ones close and enjoy the day. She never met a stranger, and if she made a trip to Walmart, she would stop and talk to every person she met. At home, she was usually on the phone, and if you called her and said you were in need of prayer, she would stop what she was doing and pray with you right there. She loved her family, and would often remind the young ones that she wasn’t yelling at them, she was having a discussion with them. The grandchildren called her Nan, and this went for every child that came into her home, looking for a place to rest and be listened to. She loved going to garage sales, and the ride around the country side looking for the sale, she was happy to be outdoors in the sunshine, working in her flower beds, scratching the head of her beloved cats, and other assorted animals she was so fond of. Evenings found her relaxing at home, maybe doing a little crocheting. She was kind and gentle, she never boasted on herself, but would go the extra mile to make someone else happy. A Christian by faith, she attended numerous churches thorough out the countryside, the most recent was the River Valley Baptist Church. For all the plans she had for the future, the Lord called this wonderful prayer warrior home from her many labors on February 2nd, 2021 at her home, surrounded by those who knew and loved her most. She was 67 years old.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, one son, Justin Lee Rose in infancy, one daughter, Jennifer Louise Rose Green, one brother, Tucson Virgil Westmoreland and one sister, Deborah Lavina Westmoreland.
