Jon Ward Garcia was born on August 5th, 1956 in Visalia, CA, the son of Richard Garcia and Barbara “Bobbie” Garcia –Taylor. He attended and graduated from Muskogee High School and then began his studies at NSU. He enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1979 until his honorable discharge in January of 1984 in the E Battery, 2nd Battalion 57 Air Defense, earning the overseas service ribbon, Army Service ribbon, Expert Rifle Badge, and Good Conduct medal. He married the love of his life and his best friend, Rita Ramos, and together they raised a family of three sons, Chris, Miguel and Matthias. Jon worked for Northeastern State University as a Biomedical Engineer for 25 years. He loved being around the students and never met a stranger. Jon was a very welcoming person. Whether he knew you for years or just a few hours, if you needed a place to stay, you were welcomed into his home. He was outgoing and friendly, always keeping a joke handy just to make you smile. When he wasn’t working, he was always outdoors working in the yard gardening raising beautiful plants and vegetables. Jon enjoyed going to the shooting range and teaching his grandchildren the correct way to shoot a gun. He also liked hanging out watching any aviation events on tv. Every chance he got he worked on upgrading his home and did a lot of the masonry work himself. He never missed the news because he believed in keeping up with the latest. Jon would sometimes like to take off and go visiting his grandchildren in other states just to make them one of his famous mayonnaise sandwiches and grill something good for them to eat. His family was always first and foremost. His health began to fail him and he passed from this life on April 5th, 2022 in Hermitage, MO. He was 65 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his beloved Rita in 2004 and many aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Chris Garcia and wife Lisa of Enterprise, AL, Miguel Garcia and wife Erin of Windsor, CO, and Matthias Garcia and wife Shanesta of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves his brothers and sister, Rick Garcia and wife Wanda of Lyman, South Carolina, Keith Garcia of Wister, OK, and Sean Linville and husband Jim of Camdenton, MO. He lives on in his 9 grandchildren, Kaleb Garcia, Tyler Garcia, Halen Garcia, Cash Garcia, Kaden Garcia, Kody Garcia, Christain Brackett, Ashley Brix, Jonathan Brix and wife Ashley as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
