Leroy Eugene Borron was born on September 11, 1927 in Jennings, OK, the son of Everett and Lucille (Harp) Borron. He attended school in Hoisington, KS. He answered the call to serve his country and joined the Merchant Marines followed by the U.S. Army in 1946 serving until his honorable discharge in 1949. He returned to Hoisington and there he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Deines. They were united in Holy Matrimony on August 15th, 1950. This union was blessed with three daughters and one son. Leroy was a man of principle. He believed in hard work, giving life all you had to give and taking nothing that was not earned by the labor of his own hands. He adored his wife and children and was an excellent provider. He worked hard in the oil production industry, sold real estate, was an insurance salesman for Farmers Insurance and did very well at whatever he set his mind to. When he wasn’t working, Leroy loved outdoor sports such as hunting for duck, pheasant, quail, dove and elk. He loved to fish and demonstrated time and again his green thumb in the garden, growing vegetables, flowers, and trees. He enjoyed taking his family to the lake for a relaxing weekend. The most important aspect of his life was his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. He liked watching the classic westerns on TV that featured John Wayne and Wheel of Fortune. He was a member of American Legion Post 0135. A Christian by faith, Leroy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He considered himself a flawed man that constantly strived to be a better man as an example to his family. Even when his daughter turned out a less than perfect cake, Leroy would eat a slice and recommend she try even harder for the next cake. He could be stern, but it was always out of love for his family to help them better themselves for the life that lay ahead. Leroy even fought valiantly as his body began its slow decent. Leroy went home to his Lord and Savior on July 21st, 2012 at his home with his loved ones by his side. He was 84 years old. He will be greatly missed for the love he gave and the happiness he shared with his family and the many friends he made along the way.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Everett Borron Jr., and one sister, Wanda Gibbs.
Leroy’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Dorothy, of the home in Tahlequah, three daughters, Brenda Taxeras of Leavenworth, KS, Beverly Davis of Towanda, KS, Diane Poeschel and husband Steve of El Dorado, KS, and one son, Curtis Borron and wife Beverley of Wichita Falls, TX. He leaves one sister, Barbara Payne and companion Larry Phelps of New Braunfels, TX. Leroy’s legacy lives on in his five grandchildren, Heather Taxeras of Gainesville, FL, Adrienne Andrews and husband Matthew of Boston, MA, Abby O’Rourke and husband Alex of Healy, KS, Ann Poeschel of El Dorado, KS, and Sam Poeschel of El Dorado, KS. His four great grandchildren include Chance O’Rourke, Kodee O’Rourke, Terence O’Rourke, and Teghan O’Rourke, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
