Lonnie Ray “Slim” Sellers will have a Celebration of his Life at Boudinot Church with Sister Diana Sellers and Brother Jesse Deer and Brother James Pathkiller officiating the services on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at 10:30 am.
Lonnie Ray Sellers, or “Slim” to his many friends, was born on August 19th, 1947, in Cookson, OK, the son of Albert and Retha Sellers. He passed from this life on June 28th, 2017 in Chouteau, OK, after reaching the age of 69.
Slim Sellers grew up in a household with two brothers and two sisters, attended and graduated from Tahlequah High School. He worked as a baker at Morgan’s Bakery and NSU Bakery in Tahlequah, OK. On February 8th, 1985, he married his sweetheart and soul mate, Lillian Diana Hale in Stilwell, OK. Together they raised three children, Neil, Kevin and Carla. Slim was a family man at heart, there was nothing he enjoyed more than time with his children and grandchildren. If it had an engine, he enjoyed seeing it race or being displayed. He also liked to go to the rodeo and watch the cowboys demonstrate their skills. There was nothing more relaxing then a trip up Highway 10, especially in the fall when the leaves where red and gold. Attending estate sales or auctions was a favorite pastime, as well as trading and selling knives and fixing and selling watches. He had the touch to fix just about anything that was broken. Where music was concerned, he loved to drum along to any old rock and roll music, and listen to music with his grandchildren. He would often sit on his porch and drink a Pepsi, listen to the birds on the deck, and admire his wife’s flower gardens. He was always ready to joke and tease his grandkids, they were his favorite people on earth. Slim attended church at Boudinot and Assembly of God and was a Christian by faith. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labor on June 28th, 2017 in Chouteau with his loved ones close by his side. He is loved dearly and missed deeply every single day.
He is preceded in death by his mother, and father, one brother Wesley and one sister, Betty.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Diana of the home and his three children, Neil Sellers and wife Samantha of Council Bluffs, IA, Kevin Mitchell of Tahlequah and Carla Everly and husband Jesse also of Tahlequah. He leaves one sister, Margie Anderson and husband JD of Vian, OK. Slim lives on in his grand and great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Micah, and Brenna Sellers, Chad Mitchell, Kimberly Mitchell, Ashley Neville, and Jeremy Everly. His great grandchildren include Mariah Mitchell, Ariahna Mitchell, Estrella Mitchell, Violet Bell, Penelope Bookout, and Gunner and Jace Neville, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
