Louella Duck-Gonzalis was born on November 2nd, 1941, in Stilwell, OK, the daughter of Cornelius Duck and Lizzie Bearpaw. She attended school at Flaming Rainbow and received her Bachelors of Science. She worked her entire career at Dahlonegah School, serving in various capacities as Teachers Aide and Cook. She married her husband, Bob Gonzalis, and together they raised three children, Bobby Joe, Gary Wayne, and Betty Jo. Louella was not one to let the grass grow beneath her feet. She was always busy. She was a talented seamstress, making numerous blankets. She served as a foster grandparent, and loved every child she met, touching their lives with her love and the kindness of her heart. She was constantly doing Cherokee Studies, prayer walks, puzzle books, and flea markets, collecting memorabilia and solar powered sun dancers. She was kind, thoughtful of others, and especially kind with the children at Dahlonegah. She was a friend to every child, giving them the extra time and attention to make better people of them. She was never too busy to share a joke, or make you laugh with her wonderful sense of humor. She was always happy to have her children and grandchildren around, and treated them to her famous dumplings, dressing, noodles and knuche! She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Cherry Tree Baptist Church and the WMU. Louella was a strong prayer warrior, who loved the Lord and dedicated her life to helping others. The Lord called this kind and loving servant home from her labors on January 14th, 2016 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 74 years old. She will be greatly missed, and leaves a vacancy that will never be filled.
