

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Maxine Flute- Ellis will be held at Reed-Culver Chapel on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Reverend David Cook officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19th, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Online condolences for Maxine’s family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
Maxine Flute Ellis was born on July 26th, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK the daughter of Mack and Pauline (Ketcher) Flute. She attended and graduated from Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa, OK. On November 18th, 1995, she married her trusted companion and best friend, Billy David Ellis in Stilwell, OK. Maxine worked as a Registration Clerk at Tahlequah City Hospital until retiring on disability. When she wasn’t taking care of the clients entrusted to her care, Maxine could be found with her family. She was the proud mother of two sons, Jason Hopper and Greg Smith, always keeping up their activities and their accomplishments. She adored any chance she got to play with her grandchildren, Izabella, Jessica, and Parise. They were a delight to her and they laughed and played many a day to a close. Maxine loved her church family and was happy any chance she got to spend with them, at Bible study or just gathering for a meal or a cup of coffee. She became ill and went home to her Lord and Savior on January 14th, 2015 at her home with her loved ones gathered by her side. She was 69 years old. She will be greatly missed for all the love she gave and the laughter she shared.
Maxine is preceded in death by her father, her mother, on son, Greg Smith and one sister, Betty Flute.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, David Ellis of the home, one son, Jason Lance Hopper of Tahlequah, one brother, George Ketcher of Park Hill, OK, and one sister, Carol Rosser of Sand Springs, OK. Her legacy lives on in her three adored grandchildren, Izabella Maxine Hopper, Jessica Faith Hopper and Parise Raine Smith. She leaves one daughter-in-law, Kerrie Smith, three sister-in-laws, Jeanie Roten, Karen Grigg, Althea Dulin, two brothers-in-law, Gary Ellis and D.J. Ellis, her mother-in-law, Louise Ellis, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
