Bodie grew up attending schools in Muskogee and Oktaha. His greatest enjoyment came from playing baseball as a pitcher. In his later years he played independent softball for his dad Pumpkin. He was an awesome first basemen who was never afraid to step up close to the plate and never let a ball get by him. With his dad as coach he played for two teams, RB Sanders and Lane Pierce. He also played for other teams including the Roofers with Coach Roger Bell, Scramblers with Coach Dink Bemo, All Tribes with his brother Bossie as coach. He played for The Outlaws, FRU with Coach Chip Cochran, Bushyhead under Coach WG Bushyhead, Sapulpa Racers with Coach Herb Fox and the Muskogee Flyers for Ed Seber.
Bodie enjoyed spending time with his family especially at gatherings for birthdays, holidays and other special occasions, watching softball games, pitching horseshoes, listening to stomp dance music and songs from the 70s. His favorite tune was “Why Can’t We Be Friends.” He also loved all the music from the group XIT. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals in which he made a special trip with his family to see a few years ago. He also loved the Washington Redskins. He was an awesome human being who enjoyed being around and playing with his grand nieces and nephews and other children. He also loved his momma’s homestyle cooking. Bodie is best remembered for his love of doing odd jobs around town and talking and laughing with everyone he knew. He had a big heart but in the end, it was problems with his heart that shortened his time here on earth. Bodie was a simple man who lived a simple life and was proud of his native heritage. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him but will remain forever in our hearts.
