Phillip Anthony Settlemyre

A funeral service has been planned to celebrate the life of Phillip on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00PM at Reed Culver Chapel in Tahlequah. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9th, 2017 beginning at noon until 6:00 PM. Burial will be held at Greenleaf Cemetery in Tahlequah.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Haner, Bryan Haner Jr., Ryan Haner, Matthew Settlemyre, Adam Settlemyre, and David Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Reece, and Brian Crume.

Phillip began his life’s journey in Muskogee, OK on May 23, 1953, the son of Elmer Lee and Lois “Tootie” Inez (Todd) Settlemyre. As a young man, he served his country in the US Army in C Company Second Battalion as a Fire Crewman, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He returned to Tahlequah, OK, where he met the love of his life, Debra Stratton. They were married January 27, 1996 at Double Springs Church. Phillip had many passions in his life, including trips with Debra, camping, fishing, hanging out with friends at the bingo hall and watching westerns when he had the time. His greatest passion of all was spending time with his family, especially his wonderful grandkids, who couldn’t wait to go with Papa to get three colors of ice cream. Phillip had many “irons in the fire” all the time, but a few things that brought him the most joy included, coaching the “Tahlequah Outlaws “in the Special Olympics, and hosting an annual Halloween and New Year’s Eve party for the Outlaw Team that he loved so much. Phillip was an extraordinary man, that gave so much in life to others, and will be missed by all his friends and family.

Those he joins at the end of his journey include; his parents, one brother Barry Settlemyre, and two sisters, Charolette Spencer, and Gayle Settlemyre.

Left to carry on his legacy include two sons; Jasson Settlemyre and wife Lisa of Tahlequah, OK, and Eddie Jordan of Tahlequah, OK, two daughters; Jhonae Settlemyre of Tahlequah, OK, and Debbie Jordan of Tahlequah, OK, two brothers; Mike Settlemyre and wife Margie of Tahlequah, OK and Larry Settlemyre and wife Mary Frances of Fort Gibson, OK, one sister; Rita Taylor and husband Larry of Texas, and four grandchildren; Jhonett Cookson, Amber Cookson, Phillip Ryan Settlemyre and Kate Settlemyre.

The Family of Phillip will be meeting at the American Legion Building by the Tahlequah City Park for dinner following the services.
