Roger Clifton Tilby was born on February 26th, 1944 in Salt lake City, UT, the son of Cliff Lionel and Helen (Steele) Tilby. He attended school and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah in electrical engineering. He spent his hours at home in the company of his lifelong friend, Gayle. He was the father of four adored children, sons Matt and John and daughters Lori and Kim. Roger was a man of many talents. He had a thirst of knowledge that kept him reading every book he could get his hands on. His love of knowledge was evident in the joy he experienced every time he stepped onto a university campus and opened the minds of his students to new and wonderful things. Roger was his own person and thought outside of the box. His spare time was spent woodworking, where he built puzzles and any number of projects. He loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was always there for them, and delighted in an afternoon spent in their company. He enjoyed a quiet day in the country, and the peace that came with the solitude of living near the river. Roger was a long time member of the BPOE and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Tahlequah. His health failed him and Roger was called from this earthly life on October 30th, 2013 in his cabin in the woods. He was 69 years old. He will be missed for his unique perspective on life, his love of knowledge, and his love for his family and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Those left to cherish Roger’s memories include his four children, Matt Tilby of Salt lake City, UT, John Tilby and wife Lisa of Salt Lake City, UT, Lori Riggs of Coweta, OK, and Kim Stacey and husband Shelby of Tahlequah, OK.
