Roy Sparks

Funeral services for Roy Sparks will be held on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at 10:00 at Reed-Culver Chapel with Mr. Hinds officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at Reed-Culver Chapel from noon until 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at Price Cemetery following services. Pallbearers for Roy include Jerry Gladd, Robert “Eugene” Sparks, Billy Birdtail, Leon Sparks, Cory Guy, Ryan Stolfa, Cody Stolfa, and Austin Guy. Honorary pallbearers include Leo Murphy, Rodney Ballard, Corey Taylor, John Stanley, Hubbard Stanley, Johnny Ashwood, Donnie McClure, Cliff Ritchie, Willie Morton, David Stanley Sr., and David Stanley Jr.

Roy Sparks was born on April 13th, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Robert and Ora (Owens) Sparks. He joined a family of three brothers and five sisters. He attended school and then enlisted into the US Army National Guard. It was on March 14th, 1966 that Roy married his best friend and soul mate, Marylene Reynolds. This union was blessed with fifty-one years of happiness and three children, Roy Lee, Shelly and Katie. Roy was employed by Arkhola for over35 years as a mechanic and in the transportation industry. He was a hardworking, dedicated employee who could be relied on to get the job done and work with everyone around him. When he was done with work, Roy loved being at home, especially outdoors, drinking a “cold one” and swapping stories with his best buddy, Cletes Fears. He loved to have his family and friends over for a cook out, and to spend the day chasing his grandchildren around the yard. He was devoted to his wife, children and especially his grandchildren, he thought they were the best. He was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life, like the sunset at his backyard, the friends stopping by, and his family gathered around just sharing a laugh or two. Roy passed from this life on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 in Tahlequah, OK with his family by his side. Roy was 71 years old.

He is preceded in life by his mother, father, three brothers, Robert Jr., William and Wilburn Sparks and two sisters, Lillian Birdtail and Vivian Towie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marylene of the home, and his children, Roy Lee Sparks, Shelly Sparks and Katie Sparks-Guy and husband Cory all of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves three sisters, Minnie Chaiyedej, Ruby Perry and husband Jerry and Barbara Payne all of Tahlequah, OK. Roy lives on in his grandchildren, Ryan Stolfa, Cody Stolfa, Austin Guy, and Emili Taylor and one great grandson, Remington Stolfa, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
