Sam Christie

Sam Christie was born on September 9th, 1948 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of John R Christie and Mary Hooper. He worked numerous jobs over the years, from working in the nurseries, to driving school bus and working construction. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. He was outgoing and friendly, with a smile that greeted everyone he met. He loved visiting and liked to get a cup of coffee and share the latest news. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed doing a little fishing, and watch the sun come up and the sun go down. A Baptist by faith, he attended church every chance he got. His wife Lena Hicks died in 1994. He stayed with the family he loved until he could no longer care for himself. His family lovingly cared for him until he passed from this life on December 23rd, 2021 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 73 years old and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his son, Andy William, his daughter Peggy, his wife, Lena and sibling Sally Buzzard and George Christie.

He is survived by his sister, Lucille Buster of Marble City, OK, and his stepchildren, John A. Washington and wife Nina of Woodall, OK, Billy Hendricks of Peggs, OK, Shirley Sams and husband Jimmy of Welling, OK, Phyllis Wilson and husband Sam of Briggs, and Virginia Washington of Hulbert, OK as well as the Drywater Family and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services for Sam Christie will be held on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Mr. Billy Hendricks officiating. He will have a visitation on Monday, January 3rd, 2021 beginning at 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Flute Springs Cemetery in Marble City, OK.
