Shirley Ann (Baker) Phillips

Shirley Ann (Baker) Phillips, born on February 8, 1936 to Charley and Gladys (Stepp) Baker. She was one of 12 children. She passed from this life at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2025 at the age of 89 years, surrounded by family.

Shirley married Buddy Floyd Phillips on April 16, 1955 in Tahlequah, OK. She learned how to work hard at a young age. From milking cows to sewing dresses, she could truly do it all. Shirley was a devoted mother to her three children, Vickie, Angie and Jeff. She worked as a Librarian Media Coordinator at Cherokee Elementary School for 26 years, before retiring to spend her days with her beloved Vickie.

Shirley had a true servant’s heart. She was a devoted friend, sister, mother and her favorite title, “Mamaw”. Shirley loved family and fellowship. Sunday lunch at Mamaw’s was something grandkids, young and old, enjoyed because just her presence made you feel at home.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Gladys Baker, sisters, Eloise Jones, Maxine Brixey, Patricia Edwards and Virginia Gassaway and brothers, Dickie Baker, Tony Baker, Johnnie Baker and Sonny Baker and daughter, Vickie Denise Phillips.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Buddy Phillips, children, Angie and Arnie McGee and Jeff Phillips and Jaylene Studie. She leaves six grandchildren, Phillip and Sammy McGee, Ryan and Rose McGee, Keith and Sarah Phillips, Cecily and Kyle Hix, Andrea and Rhett Davis and Kati Phillips, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Shirley is also survived by sisters, Betty and Dell Hall, June Greenhaw and brother, Tommy and Linda Baker.

The family would like to thank Tammy, Jasie, Jessica, Claudia and Matt, along with Cherokee Nation Home Health and Hospice in helping care for Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at Reed-Culver Funeral Home on December 18, 2025, beginning at 2:00 pm with Chaplain Kevin Webster officiating. A committal service will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery Pavilion where she will be laid to rest.

Pallbearers include Kyle Hix, Keith Phillips, Phillip McGee, Ryan McGee, Casey Baker and Sean Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter McGee, Kyler McGee, Jeb Hix, Zeke Hix and Rhett Davis.
