Stephen (Steve) Cleston Brown was born on July 9th, 1960 in Muskogee, OK, the son of George and Rebecca Jewel (Parker) Brown. He grew up in the Muskogee area and attended Muskogee Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1978, but shattered both knee caps which kept him from finishing his enlistment. He returned to the Muskogee area and began his life long career of small engine repair. Then he fell in love with his sweetheart, Dorothy Faye Hodges and they were wed on October 21st, 1980 in Muskogee, OK. Together they raised one son, Stephen Lee. Steve worked at Walmart, Lowes and did independent work on small engines. When he wasn’t working, he was out in the workshop, building things for the house, and tinkering on everything that needed fixing. He was known by many to be able to fix or repair things that know one else could. Dirt track racing was in his blood. Most Fridays you could find him at Thunderbird speedway in Muskogee. Life was all about his family, his wife, son, daughter in law, and his two precious granddaughters that were his pride and joy. Any holiday or weekend was made so much sweeter by the family he adored. The first time you met Steve, he put on the “grumpy” old man persona. Yet those that knew and loved him, could tell you of the kind, compassionate and sometimes funny personality that came out. He had the kind of smile that made you feel like you had known him all your life. He was hard working, and tough as a boot strap. That all disappeared when his granddaughters raced into the room to see their Bobo. A Baptist by faith , the Lord called this industrious, son, husband , father and grandfather home from his many labors on April 23rd, 2023 at his home surrounded by the family that loved him. He was only 62 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Jefferson and Lily Brown, and his father and mother George and Rebecca Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of the home, Dorothy and his son Stephen Lee and wife Sarah Dawn of Tahlequah, OK. He lives on in his granddaughters Makayla Dawn and Makenna Diane, and a host of friends and loved ones.
The family would like to take this moment to thank Complete Hospice of Muskogee, OK for the care they gave Steve during his final days.
