Having been born in Jacksonville, Ben moved to Tallahassee when he was five years old. He attended Buck Lake Elementary School, Swift Creek Middle School, Cobb Middle School, and Leon High School.
After losing his father his senior year, Ben began to travel the United States. Stopping in Maine, he grew fond of the scenery and bought his first parcel of farming land. Despite this, Ben would constantly return to Tallahassee to visit his family.
He is survived by his mother, Tish McCord; brother, Connor McCord and sister, Diane McCord. He was preceded in death by his father, Cort McCord.
Ben will be laid to rest next to his father on Thursday, March 31 at Culley’s on Timberlane Road in a private ceremony. A celebration of life event will be held on April 24 with more details to follow at a later date.
Ben was a free spirit who took life one day at a time, and he is now reunited with his father.
