

Benjamin (Ben) L. Miranda, a resident of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, due to complications during rehabilitation following open heart surgery. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing.
Ben was born on January 8, 1946, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received the Vietnam Service Medal. After his military service, Ben moved to Chicago, Illinois where he married his loving wife, Nilsa M. Miranda, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, and together they raised two children.
Ben is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Yolanda Miranda-Hill & Terry Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, Reynaldo Miranda & Melina Morgado Miranda; and his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as Lito: Christopher Hill and wife Morgan, Benjamin Rey “Benny” Miranda, Savannah Hill and fiancé Trey Bolinger, Sebastian Hill and wife Sterling, Ezequiel “Zeke” Miranda, and Zuriel “Zu” Miranda, as well as his great-granddaughter, Mason Hill.
Ben was the youngest of nine siblings: Aida (deceased), Israel (deceased), Julia (deceased), Adolfo “Fito”, Issac (deceased), Carmelo, Leocadio “Tuto”, and Nereida (deceased). He is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Ben will be remembered for his kind heart and his thoughtful, sensible, and jokester demeanor. He loved music and often led others in singing traditional Puerto Rican songs, while playing the güiro. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
The visitation and funeral service will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd. Tallahassee, FL 32308, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The Miranda family will receive family and friends at 9:00 am followed by a 10:00 a.m. memorial service. The interment will immediately follow the service at Tallahassee National Cemetery with military honors.
