Beverly Mae Schacht (“Bev”), a loving family and home maker, and resident of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully with family present at 99 years of age in Plantation Oaks Assisted Living on the 7th of May 2026.
She was a force of nature, and a beacon of sunshine and positivity that sang out through the world like a beautiful songbird. Any that has ever met her would tell you it was an absolute pleasure to have known her.
Her many roles in life included secretary for Cypress School District in Orange County, California; delivering Meals On Wheels for Leon County, Florida; long time member of The Tallahassee Garden Club; creation and production of Beverly’s Bears, as well as avid collector of Sasha Dolls and the making of clothes for them (both of the previous two endeavors were displayed, traded and sold on her website until well into her 80s!)
Beverly was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church of Tallahassee. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending her garden, sewing and knitting, listening to music, playing cards, dancing, and watching her classic movies and westerns. She was married for 38 years to her high school sweetheart Lewis Schacht, and they were able to travel the country and the world together for many years until his passing in 2012.
Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Myra Kuehneman; father, George Kuehneman; brother, Gene Kuehneman; and her twin sons, Roger and Bruce Tilka. She is survived by her daughter, Patrice Tilka; her son, Aron Schacht; and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others who will miss her dearly.
Funeral Services will be at 1pm on Sunday, May 17th at Epiphany Lutheran Church located at 8300 Deerlake Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Maclay Gardens, 3540 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32309, Phone number 850-487-4556 https://friendsofmaclaygardens.org/donate/
