Carmela Margaret Burke, age 88, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016. Family graveside services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.; at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home. Carmela (known by family and friends as Carrie) was born April 5, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Victoria Leon. She moved to Panama City, FL at the age of 20 where she married Fernie Whitehurst on March 22, 1948. They had two daughters, Cathy and Judy. Five years later they moved to Tallahassee, FL. She later married Alfred Burke in 1972 and they were married for 9 years. She resided in Tallahassee, FL the remainder of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Victoria Leon; and her sisters, Letty Joan Leon and Jean Holden. Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Mulvaney (husband, Robert) and Judy Tagliareni; grandchildren, Caprice Stokes (husband, Joel), Sonia Nadel (husband, Marc) and Robert Russell Mulvaney; great-grandchildren, David Stokes, Christopher Stokes, Sam Nadel, Emily Nadel, Penelope Mulvaney, and Olivia Berry and her loving and faithful dog, Molly Buttercup.
