Charles “Charlie” D. Gill, 88, of Tallahassee died Monday, 1/11, at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. A native of Sarasota, FL, he came to the Tallahassee area in 1981 from Kingsport, TN. Charlie was a general contractor and had been very involved in building churches, homes, and any other type of structure that was needed.
He enjoyed being out in nature and was an avid fisherman. A musician, he played several instruments, including the guitar. He also enjoyed singing and traveled performing with various groups. He also wrote poetry and songs. Charlie was always one who enjoyed people and was willing to help anyone he thought might need a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law: Kay, sisters: Cleo, Janet; brothers: Orbidue and Kenneth. Survivors include his wife of 67 years: Lula; son: David (Brenda) of Elkville, IL; daughter: Jarenda Jo (Richard) Clark of Tallahassee; sisters: Grace (J.D.) Shealy of Chipley, FL, Loretta Greene of Huffman, TX; grandchildren: Nichole Godbehere, Mia Hartquist; and four great-grandchildren.
