

Charles (Charlie) Gray Ginn passed away on January 10, 2025 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Moore Ginn, his son Christopher (Chris), daughter Lisa Lingreen, daughter-in-law Alison (Ali), son-in-law Garrett, and five grandchildren Abigail, Olivia, Carson, and Emily Ginn, and Ethan Lingreen. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Ginn Schoenborn, her husband, David, and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Gene, and younger sister, Helen.
Charlie was born August 27, 1945 in St. Petersburg, FL, the son of Eugene Hartwell Ginn and Eunice Gray Ginn. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1963, St. Petersburg Junior College in 1965, and Florida State University in 1967.
Charlie served in active duty in the US Army from July 1967-June 1970 and in the Reserves until 1973. He was fortunate to serve in Korea during active duty. While stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana prior to his assignment to Korea, he was awarded the Outstanding Soldier (grade E4 and below) for the fourth quarter of 1968. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September 1968.
Charlie returned to St. Petersburg in 1970 and began his career as a State of Florida employee; he and his wife met at work soon thereafter. He worked for various state agencies in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Dade City, prior to moving to Tallahassee in 1986. Upon retirement, he was the Bureau Chief for Medicaid Fraud and Recovery with the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Charlie was an avid FSU football and baseball fan, Tampa Bay Bucs and Tampa Bay Rays fan. He served as President of the baseball boosters at Lincoln High School for two years. He loved a long walk in the neighborhood, reading the morning paper, and trips to the beach or Disney with family.
Charlie was a deeply loving and supportive spouse, parent, and grandparent. There was no milestone, game, or recital he missed. His kindness will be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. In his final days and upon passing, Charlie was surrounded by family, all grateful for their time with this remarkable man.
A celebration of life for Charles will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bradley's Pond, 9002 Bradley Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32309.
Charlie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
