

Christine C. Barry, 84, of Tallahassee, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. Christine was born in Kansas City, Kansas on November 20, 1933 to her parents; the late Charles Clare Wilson and Evelyn Burleson Wilson. She was a graduate of Wyndotte High School where she was a member of the synchronized swimming, basketball and volleyball teams.
Christine was married to Donald E. Barry, now deceased, on June 19, 1972. She enjoyed a career in communications with Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring after 25 years of service. In addition to her career, she was highly involved at her children’s school serving as president of the PTA and performing in shows presented by the PTA; as well as teaching Vacation Bible School at the church.
Christine had a passion for sailing, boating and dancing. In fact, after retirement, she and Don moved to Lake of the Ozarks, docked their sailboat at Stockton Lake and joined the yacht club. To say they were enjoying life would be an understatement. Christine and Don later moved to Florida in 1990.
Christine is survived by her daughters, Sue (Dennis) Hubler; Kristy (Jerry) Verstraete; and Janet Hines. Additionally she is survived by her step-daughters, Sue (Jim) McGee and Donna (Larry) Wallace; 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road in Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL 32308. (850.878.5310)
