Claire Ekey

Claire Gaines Ekey, 86, died at her home in Tallahassee on March 22, 2013. A homemaker, wife and mother, she is survived by her daughters Carol Ekey Conner (Wayne) of Tallahassee and Susan Ekey Pope (Jerry) of Woodville; 9 grandchildren: Kristin Conner Danielson of Tallahassee, Steven Conner (Kelly) of Tallahassee, Michael Conner (Heather) of Pensacola, Ronda Sapp Fowler (Andy), Scott Sapp (Ginny), Todd Sapp (Laurie), Ross Pope, Tyler Pope, all of Tallahassee, John Pope of South Korea; 17 great-grandchildren, a sister, Margaret Fay (Bob) of Redington Beach, FL; 3 sisters-in-law: Jean LaViolette, Elizabeth Bryant (Jerry), Margaret Colwell (Larry), all of Michigan, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A native of St. Petersburg, FL, Claire lived in Tallahassee since 1961 and was preceded in death in 2002 by her husband of 56 years, Pierce W. (Bill) Ekey, Jr. They were members of Thomasville Road Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park Chapel – 700 Timberlane Road – in Tallahassee on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00pm. Her grandson, Rev. Todd Sapp will officiate. Burial will follow at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.
